It’s (not) Showtime.
On Monday, Paramount subtly rebranded its ad-free streaming tier, changing the name from Paramount+ with Showtime to Paramount+ Premium. The name change will roll out across platforms throughout June; however, the Premium plan’s content offering will remain unchanged, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The company explained the reasoning for the change in an update on Paramount+’s help site. According to the update, the company recently brought some Showtime programming to its ad-supported Essential plan, and “the Premium plan name reflects the broad and diverse offerings across both plan tiers.”
The update also noted that Showtime programming “remains an important part of Paramount+, and is still prominently represented on the service!” The company said the name of the Paramount+ with Showtime channel on cable, satellite, or live streaming TV (such as Hulu with Live TV) will not change.
